Laughter and jokes are a heinous crime
Humans are social creatures. While living in society, people live their lives through joy, sadness, laughter and tears. Although laughter is a natural feeling in human life, when this laughter becomes a means of insulting, belittling or mentally hurting others, it is no longer harmless. Then that laughter turns into “laughter and jokes”, which is a kind of social disease and a reflection of moral degradation. In real life, it is seen that many people laugh and joke about others in the name of entertainment, under the guise of humor or to prove their superiority. But this behavior is actually a heinous crime, because it destroys people's self-respect, humanity and social balance.
The main problem with humor is that it devalues the feelings of others. It has become very common to make fun of a person's appearance, physical structure, financial status, education, accent, clothing or social status. Many people think that it does not do much, but the mental pain that is created inside the person targeted by this joke often has to be carried for a lifetime. The humiliated person gradually loses confidence, withdraws from society and sometimes suffers from mental illness.
The impact of humor is especially terrible in the case of teenagers and young people. Many students lose interest in studies after being ridiculed by their classmates in school, college or university. Some suffer from depression and lose self-esteem, while others even take extreme decisions like suicide. Recently, this social disorder known as "bullying" has become a cause of concern worldwide. Humor is never harmless; It can destroy a person's mental health.
From a religious perspective, mockery is also a serious crime. Islam clearly prohibits mocking others. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “O you who believe! Let no community mock another community; perhaps they are better than them.” (Surah Al-Hujurat: 11). This verse proves that looking down on someone or mocking them is disliked by Allah. Not only Islam, but all religions and moral philosophies of the world teach respect for people.
From a social perspective, mockery is also a terrible disease. In a society where people do not know how to respect people, peace, unity and humanity can never survive. In today's society, we see that trolling someone on social media, distorting pictures or videos, and making fun of personal matters have become a part of entertainment. However, as a result, many people's social respect is destroyed, family relationships are broken, and even their careers are disrupted.
Laughter and jokes push not only the victim, but also the person who does it towards moral degradation. Such a person gradually becomes cruel, arrogant, and senseless. He takes pleasure in the suffering of others, which is completely contrary to humanity. A healthy society cannot be developed if its citizens are not compassionate towards each other.
Laughter and joy are certainly an important part of life, but that laughter must be pure, holy, and not hurtful to anyone. There is a huge difference between making someone happy and making fun of someone. Healthy humor brings people closer, strengthens relationships; while ugly jokes create hatred and division among people.
Therefore, it is important to create awareness on this issue at every level of society. Children should be taught from the family itself to respect the feelings of others. Moral education should be strengthened in educational institutions. Awareness and sense of responsibility must be created in the use of social media. At the same time, strict legal measures must be taken against insults, defamation and cyberbullying.
Laughter and jokes are not trivial matters; they can cause deep wounds in the hearts of people. To build a civilized and humane society, each of us must be restrained, compassionate and responsible. Respecting the strengths of others, not their weaknesses, is true humanity. If laughter is of love, joy and harmony, then it will enhance the beauty of human life; otherwise, it will simply become a heinous crime.
