Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about building, growing and earning from your platform on Serey.
Getting started
Serey is an all-in-one publishing platform. You can build your own website, blog, shop, podcast, video channel and community in one place, and run them all from one dashboard, instead of paying for separate tools.
Writers, journalists, creators, podcasters and organisations who want their own platform without depending on one big tech company. Your content, your audience and your platform belong to you.
Serey has four plans: Homepage, Publishing, Commerce and Premium. Billed yearly they cost $9, $12.50, $17.50 and $25 a month ($108, $150, $210 and $300 a year). Billed monthly they cost $12.99, $17.99, $24.99 and $36 a month.
You can try any plan free for 14 days. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by country.
Setup is designed to be quick. The AI website builder can create a homepage for you, or you can start straight away with a blog, shop or podcast, with no technical skills needed. You can try any plan free for 14 days.
Serey works in any mobile browser, so there is nothing to install. There is also a Serey app for Ubuntu Touch in the OpenStore.
Substack keeps 10% of paid subscription revenue, on top of Stripe's fees, and focuses on newsletters. Serey takes 0% on paid memberships (Stripe's processing fees still apply) and lets you combine a blog, shop, video, podcast and community under your own domain. Every post also gets a permanent, timestamped record on our blockchain.
Writing & publishing
A homepage, blog, online shop, community forum, podcast page, video channel and link in bio, all managed from one place, depending on your plan. You can connect your own domain on every plan, so readers see your brand rather than ours.
Yes. You can invite team members to publish content and manage your community, and give each person different permissions.
Our Platform Guidelines set out what may not be published anywhere on Serey, such as illegal content and content that harms others. Platform owners can add their own rules on top.
Yes, from their own platform. The content still belongs to you, and you can publish it elsewhere on Serey or take it with you.
A superhub groups platforms around a shared topic or community. When you connect your platform to one, your content is also shared there, reaching readers across every platform in it.
Earning
You can offer paid memberships and communities, accept tips from readers, sell sponsorships you arrange yourself, and sell physical and digital products in your shop. Paid memberships come with the Publishing and Premium plans, and the shop with the Commerce and Premium plans. Whatever you sell must be legal where you operate and follow our Platform Guidelines.
Serey takes 0% on paid memberships and takes no commission on shop sales, so you keep what your readers and customers pay you, apart from payment processing fees such as Stripe's. We may introduce a fee in future, and if we do, we will announce it in advance.
Cards through Stripe (including Visa and Mastercard), iDEAL, stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, and Bakong, which is only available to creators in Cambodia. For people who prefer not to share personal details, Monero and Zano are also supported.
When readers pay you by card, the payment goes straight to your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank on its regular schedule.
For crypto, every user has their own self-custody wallet on Serey for Ethereum, TON, Monero and Zano, and those payments arrive there. USDT arrives in your Ethereum or TON wallet.
Yes. You can set prices for monthly, three-month and yearly plans.
Privacy & security
Yes. An anonymous account needs no email address, phone number or real name, and you can pay with privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. Card payouts go through Stripe, which may ask you for identity details, and some other limits to anonymity apply, as our Privacy Policy explains.
No. We never sell personal data, and we do not use cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking. Our visitor statistics are anonymised and not designed to identify you.
Chat runs on Delta Chat, which is open source, decentralised and end-to-end encrypted, so Serey can't read your messages.
Your Serey wallet is self-custody, which means your seed phrase (the list of words that restores your wallet) stays on your own device and never reaches Serey. That also means we cannot recover it for you, so write it down and keep it somewhere safe and private.
Ownership & storage
Yes. You can export your content and subscriber list at any time. You can also delete your account from your settings: it is hidden straight away and permanently deleted after 30 days, and signing in during that time cancels the deletion.
A Forever Post is stored on Arweave, a network built to keep data permanently, so neither you nor Serey can delete it from there. If it breaks our rules, Serey can hide it from Serey, but it stays on Arweave. A standard post can be deleted at any time, while a Forever Post cannot be undone and may have a storage cost, so check it carefully before you publish.
Serey records a fingerprint of your content and a timestamp on its blockchain, creating a permanent record of when it was published. If someone copies your work, this record can support your claim that you published it first. It is evidence, not a legal ruling.
