Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevada

  The largest alpine lake and at 501 m (1645 ft) deep one of the deepest lakes in North America, Tahoe is approximately 2 million years old. The water in the lake is very clear and with numerous sandy beaches makes a great bathing experience. It is also famous for the amazing panoramic views, that feature mountains, surrounding the lake from all sides.
