Many Russian troops have already died and Ukraine's unwavering NATO allies are exhausted given the fact that the war in Ukraine is entering a new phase. The war has already pushed up natural gas, petrol and food prices in Europe. If this trend continues until next winter, then many families in EU countries may have to choose between heating their homes and lighting their cooking ovens.

This new phase of the war is, in my words, Vladimir Putin's 'Winter Strategy' versus NATO's 'Summer Strategy'. Putin is certainly poised to escalate attacks in Ukraine in the hope that the energy crisis and rising food prices will drive rifts within the NATO alliance.

With so many Russian troops already dead and Ukraine's staunch NATO allies exhausted—the Ukraine war could be said to be entering a new phase. Because of this war, the prices of natural gas, gasoline and food have already increased in Europe. If this trend continues into next winter, many households in the European Union may have to choose between heating their homes and cooking.

In my words, this new episode of the war is Vladimir Putin's 'winter strategy' versus NATO's 'summer strategy'. Putin is certainly poised to escalate attacks in Ukraine in the hope that the energy crisis and rising food prices will drive rifts within the NATO alliance.

Putin seems to think that if next winter it gets colder than usual in Europe, if global oil and gas supplies are strained and prices are much higher than usual, if energy shortages cause widespread power outages, then the affected European NATO countries will be Ukraine. PresidentZelensky can force Russia to agree to any terms to end the war.So Putin bluntly tells his own tired army and generals, ‘You just take me to Christmas. Winter is our friend.
