A few years ago, my husband and I bought a house adjacent to a small artificial pond with koi carp. At the time of purchase, the previous owners had not lived in the house for quite a long time, so the pond was so covered with mud, reeds and algae that the smell from it was not very pleasant. At first, we even thought that it would be easier to just get rid of it, and build something like a small Japanese garden in its place... The pond looked so shabby and unsightly that at that time we could not even think that someone actually lived in it.
After a while, of course, we realized that there was someone in the pond, because this someone began to regularly swim to the surface and ask us to feed him. It was a large white Japanese koi carp, which later became our favorite because of its very sociable and curious disposition. Well, here my husband and I resolutely decided that we would leave the pond, clear everything and fix it.
Before that, we had no such experience, so we had to start everything from scratch, and, as it turned out, it was not so easy to maintain and maintain such a small pond in working order, although in consequence it began to bring a whole sea of joy. Using the example of our pond, I will show how the same Algorithm that I stated in the title of this section works, and in the following sections I will explain how to use it to solve any problems / tasks that arise on the path of life.
So, step one: statement of the problem/task. The problem is the presence of an abandoned, dirty pond, gradually turning into a stinking swamp. Of course, you can ignore it, pretend that there is no problem and leave everything as it is, but... the pond is just located under the windows of our bedroom, so you still need to decide on something. The task (goal) here can be as A) restoration of the pond and its full functioning, so that all its inhabitants are healthy and happy, pleasing to the eyes of the owners and guests of the house; or B) "cleaning up", removing the pond, and bringing the territory it occupies into a more or less decent appearance.
We chose the first task and successfully solved it over the next few weeks, taking a few more steps. Our next, second step was cleaning the bottom of overgrown algae and mud deposits, removing debris and thickets from the coast, buying and installing a mechanical filter of sufficient power. In general, basic cleaning, cleansing.
Then, at the third step, followed by a slow, gradual, so as not to harm the inhabitants, the replacement of water in the pond with fresh, purified from chlorine, ammonium and other chemicals; in other words, a gradual reboot, filling, updating the contents. And finally, at the fourth step, our goal turned into reality: by launching and fixing the natural biological filtration of water in the pond with the help of special means, we got a charming pond with crystal clear water, a bubbling waterfall and healthy inhabitants: two large bright koi carp, several nimble goldfish and frogs.
Our pond was so transformed that a couple of the nicest cardinals immediately built their nest on an evergreen tree right above the water at the window to the dining room, so we had the opportunity to watch from the window during breakfast and lunch not only the inhabitants of the pond, but also how these funny birds hatch and feed their offspring. Of course, further maintenance of the pond in cleanliness and order still requires attention and time, however, this is a much simpler task than clearing a neglected swamp.
