Music Director - divino theatrical performance
Hello, Serey. Today I want to share with you one of the most interesting experiences I had in 2023 and why was it interesting, because I was invited to participate in a play, but not as an actor or part of the crew, but as a musical director. I recently shared with you some photos of that event, but without much detail and I will take this opportunity to tell you more in depth what happened in this play.
The play was called "Divino" and it is about a militiaman who set fire to a university library, this alluding to the burning of the library of the Universidad de Oriente in the city of Cumana in the state of Sucre - Venezuela. This is what is understood about the fact, since it is not clear if this man was really the one who burned the library or if he was blamed just for having a culprit and being such an old man, he would not be very important for the society and so they would have someone to accuse of the fact, besides the man being very old and poor, he would not have how to defend himself.
Everything happens after having burned the entire infrastructure, several militiamen clean everything and find high-end equipment, which were used for research at the university, this accompanied by the high bureaucracy and mistreatment of superiors and senior staff, who mistreated the militiamen, just to have a little power. This is a wonderful play, which was premiered in October in the city of Cumana in the facilities of the theater "Luis Mariano Rivera" having good attendance.
So, what was really my role in this play? Well, as musical director, my task was to create the song of the play and the soundtrack, where everything was performed live, the opening song and all the music in the course of the play, it was really a great challenge since creating a song from a libretto was really a new experience. Guided by the libretto I created the score and the musical fusion.
The assembly of the play was done in parts and after seeing the result it was something wonderful, a new facet as a musician and with these photographs I show you a little of what happened that night and many of the photographs belong to the photographer of the theater.
On many occasions life gives us opportunities, it is always good to take on challenges as long as we are up to the commitment. I hope you liked this post and until another opportunity.
Thank you for waching.
