The Unforgettable World Cup Match

Ofcourse the world cup tournament is such a tournament that stirs emotion in the air.

Joys and pains are all part of the memory in this tournament portrayed on a global scale as all countries of the globe look to bring glory and honour to their homeland by being victorious.

By virtue of being in the tournament alone is a priviliege for most countries while for top countries like Germany, spain, france, italy, Brazil etc not just come to play but to win.

Well for the sake of this contest my most unforgettable world cup match was played in Russia at the 2018 edition of the world cup.

THE UNFORGETTABLE MATCH

Was played by two european giants in France and Belgium at the semi-final and ofcourse i was supporting belgium, ya suprise😉, nah you should'nt.

For all football gurus they well know belgium was hot in that worldcup and considered favourite by most especially after knocking out Brazil in the quarter finals.

Well peronally i was vying for belgium to win the world cup, seeing the players the boast in Hazard, de bruyne, lukaku etc and were doing quite well. Having top their group with maximum points, a group involving panama, tunisia and euroupean giant in England.

The round of 16 against japan was one of the moments that make one fall inlove with the beautiful game of soccer. After being down 2-0 up even to the latter stages of the second half then a dramatic comeback began that reversed the game 3-2 in belgiums favour.

Goals from vertonghen in the 67mins and fellaini in the 74mins made sure the score was leveled going into injury time and in what was a dream comeback indeed just in the nick of time at 90+4 mins N. Chadli struck home to give belgium the victory.

Also against brazil they (belgium) also produced a worldcup winning performance winning against world giants when it comes to football. 2-1 in favour of belgium.

A match which Eden Hazard was unplayable and cemented his status as one of the best.

Yes france also was hot in their own right leading into the semi final with victories against argentina and uruguay in the round of 16 and quarter-final respectively.

Indeed it was a meeting of two worthy opponents, but forgive me if i thought belgium deserved victory in this one a ball possession of 64% and 36% in belgium's favour shows this. To me it was almost as if it was their right not just their right but their destiny.

But football being what it is does not always go our way, you win some you lose.

And france won 1-0 by umititi🤦, was not a joyful moment for me and france did went on to win the world cup.

Belgium though was consoled with a third place finish with a two goal victory over England. A 4mins goal by Munier and an Eden Hazard's 82 mins goal ensured this.

Conclusion

Yes for me my unforgettable world cup match was not a joyous one because my favourites lost but still as a true football fan i moved.

And for me personally the best team in the 2018 world cup was belgium.
