Weh Island is also known as a producer of coconuts and cloves. There are two famous cities in Pualu Weh, namely Kota Sabang and Balohan. The city of Balohan is the port of the ship which is a liaison between the island of Weh and mainland Banda Aceh. Whereas Sabang was an important writing since the end of the 19th century, because the city was the entrance to the Malacca Strait.There are four small islands used by Weh Island, namely Klah Island, Rubiah Island, Seulako Island, and Rondo Island. We chose to take a fast boat from Ulee Lheue Port to Balohan Port, Sabang, with a travel time of approximately 45 minutes. There is also a ferry boat with a travel time of around 1.5 hours.Fast boat ticket prices vary according to ship class. Executive / VIP class IDR 60,000 for adults and IDR 48,000 for children. Sabang consists of several islands with five (5) large islands, Pulau Weh as the largest island. The geographical condition of Sabang is hilly, with volcanic land.Sabang is separated from the mainland of Sumatra Island by the Bengal Strait. Sabang is directly adjacent to three (3) countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand and India. The strategic condition of Sabang is a struggle since the Dutch, Japanese, and Allied colonial eras. This island is only about 250 meters from the Aceh Iboih Beach. During the heyday of the Kingdom of Aceh, Rubiah Island was a transit point for would-be pilgrims, and during the world war this island was a defensive fortress which still remains the ruins of the fort. You will find various species of tropical fish such as angel fish, gigantic clams, school of parrot fish, lion fish and so on. There are also various types of coral reefs. To be able to enjoy its natural beauty, you don't have to have a diving license. Because on this island, there are many dive spots that are safe to use for diving activities for beginners or divers who don't have a license.Aside from being a tourist destination, Rubiah Island is a research site for marine life. There are 15 types of marine biota protected by the Indonesian government. After being tired of diving or snorkeling, you can pamper your stomach in the only food stalls on the island. Time taken if using a ferry for about 90 minutes, for fast boats only takes about 45 minutes. Arriving at Pulau Weh, you can continue the journey to get to Rubiah Island by motorboat which takes around 20 minutes.Facilities and Accommodation Although it is a famous tourist destination, Rubiah Marine Park is still very minimal for facilities and accommodation issues. The location of the Rubiah Island Marine Park itself is about 350 meters from Iboih Beach. Dolaners can start the journey from Banda Aceh to Ulee Lheue Port, the trip will take around 40 minutes. Then from Ulee Lheue Port, Dolaners can continue the journey to Balohan Port on Weh Island using the ferry.
