Strengthening Digital Asset Infrastructure in the UAE

The UAE’s insurance sector has begun integrating cryptocurrencies into its operations, allowing policyholders to pay premiums and receive claim settlements using digital assets. This move supports the country’s broader efforts to adopt blockchain-based financial solutions and strengthen its position in digital finance.

Dubai Insurance is leading this shift by launching the UAE’s first digital wallet for cryptocurrency transactions in the insurance industry. The wallet enables secure and compliant payments, helping streamline premium collection and claims processing while offering faster and more transparent transactions.

This development reflects growing institutional confidence in digital assets as practical financial tools. To ensure secure implementation, Dubai Insurance partnered with Zodia Custody, which provides regulated custody and transaction services. Zane Suren, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized the importance of trusted infrastructure as digital asset adoption accelerates.

The initiative aligns with wider trends across the UAE, where banks are offering crypto services and the Central Bank has approved dirham-backed stablecoins for regulated use. Ranked fifth globally in crypto adoption, the UAE continues to lead the region while connecting tokenized financial flows between Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Accepting cryptocurrencies for insurance payments marks a significant step in modernizing the UAE’s financial system, reinforcing its leadership in the global digital finance landscape.
