Dear reader! Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah. how are you all Hope all are well by God's grace. I am also fine with your prayers and Allah's infinite mercy. Today's discussion is on "May 1: International Workers' Day".

May 1 is celebrated worldwide as "International Workers' Day" or "May Day". It is a day to remember the glorious history of the struggle for the rights of working people. The celebration of this day began on May 1, 1886, centered on the Hay Market incident in Chicago, USA. On that day, workers protested for an eight-hour workday, fair wages, and humane working conditions. Many workers were shot dead by police, and many were injured and arrested.

This sacrifice and movement paved the way for the establishment of workers' rights around the world. Later, in 1889, May 1 was declared as International Workers' Day at the Second International Congress in Paris.

This day is celebrated as a public holiday in almost all countries of the world, including Bangladesh. Labor organizations celebrate the day through rallies, discussions, and various programs. On this day, the demands of workers for improved quality of life, increased wages, safe working conditions and a dignified life are reiterated.

However, reality shows that many workers are still deprived of their fair rights. Especially workers in the informal sector are often deprived of social security and basic rights. Therefore, May Day is not only a day of celebration, but also a day of awareness and movement.

Civilization is built on the sweat of workers, and their contribution is at every stage of development. Therefore, on this day, we will not only remember history, but also commit to establishing the dignity and fair rights of workers—this should be the main message of the May Day celebration.
