TOPIC:

DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO MEET CHRIST

TEXT:

Luke 19:1-9

KEY VERSE:

"So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way" (Luke 19:4).

MESSAGE:

Zaccheus was a chief tax collector and a rich man. He wanted to see Jesus but had a serious impediment - his small stature. Being a man small in stature, it would be a tedious task for him to see Jesus because of the large crowd that always followed Christ anywhere He went. Still he was not deterred but intent on seeing Jesus.

One day, he heard that Jesus had entered Jericho and was passing through the city in which he stayed. He decided to take every necessary action to see Christ. Quickly, he ran ahead of the large crowd that gathered around Christ towards a sycamore tree, climbed up into the tree just to see Christ. As Jesus approached, He looked up and said to him "Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house" (Luke 19:5). What a wonderful news and reward from the Master!

Jesus was obviously moved by the actions Zaccheus took to see Him. He would have noticed that Zaccheus was small in stature, but did not allow his small stature to stop him. Thus Christ's word to Zaccheus would have been as a result of the efforts Zaccheus made to see Him.

The Lord is a rewarder! He rewards those who earnestly and diligently seek Him. When you do all you can to see Jesus, He surely would appreciate your efforts and certainly show Himself to you. Therefore, employ every possible action you can to see, meet and encounter Christ. Once you do your best, Christ will do the rest.

CONTROLLING THOUGHT:

When you do all you can to see Jesus, He surely would appreciate your efforts and certainly show Himself to you.

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, as I totally surrender and eagerly seek You today, please show Yourself to me. Amen!
