Briefly the identity of Bangladesh
In 1947 when the Indian subcontinent was divided. Then one country is India and the other is Pakistan. One part of Pakistan is East Pakistan and the other is West Pakistan.
The old name of Bangladesh is East Pakistan. In the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 6th death anniversary of Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy on 5 December 1969, the leaders of that time proposed different names. Then Bangabandhu and others agreed to the name "Bangladesh".Bangladesh is a small and populous country in Southeast Asia.
Something about our Victory Day
Then on the night of March 25, 1971, when the West Pakistani military forces attacked the unarmed Bengalis and carried out genocide. Many mothers and sisters are tortured and oppressed. Since then, war has been raging with West Pakistan.
The war lasted for almost nine months. West Pakistani military forces jumped into killing Bengalis in East Pakistan. Guerrilla war or the war of independence began like a people's war. This small country was not on the side of any state in aid. Shortly afterwards, India directly aided Bangladesh and joined hands with the Bengalis to declare war on Pakistan.
Later, the Soviet Union supported the war of independence of Bangladesh. On this day in 1971, the long nine-month war, the Pakistani army surrendered at the then racecourse ground. And we get an independent country. Why is this war of independence needed? In 1947, when the Indian subcontinent was divided.
Then West Pakistan and East Pakistan became one state. But after a year dissatisfaction arose in the minds of the Bengalis. There was a big reason for this. The lack of democracy in the Muslim League at that time, the authoritarian politics of those in power, the frequent handover of power through conspiracies, the growing economic inequality between the two parts of Pakistan, the racial oppression.
From the beginning of the creation of Pakistan, the Bengalis were subjugated, exploited and deprived. The Bengalis were exploited as a result of the one-sided rule of the Pakistani rulers. At first the Bengalis were dissatisfied with the language. Bengali students, intellectuals, politicians and all people have been dissatisfied since the first Governor General of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, declared Urdu as the only state language of Pakistan in 1948.But then 56 percent of the people spoke Bengali. The number of Urdu speaking people was only 6 percent.
Then, with the collapse of the Muslim League in the 1954 elections and the victory of the United Front, the Pakistani ruling class lost its grip on power. Then in 1965 the military ruler Ayub Khan held a kind of election in the name of basic democracy and deprived the people of Bangladesh of their political rights.
From then on, the movement for the independence of rights intensified. The historic six-point demand of 1966 was raised for the independence of the rights of the Bengalis. Which is known to the Bengalis as Magna Carta. Then in 1968 Agartala conspiracy case was filed against 35 people including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
After the arrest of Bangabandhu, mass uprising started. It was not possible to hold Bangabandhu due to mass movement. In 1969, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other political leaders were forced to be released. Then in the 1970 general election, the Awami League, a political party in East Pakistan, won an absolute majority.
After the victory of the Awami League, the East Pakistani ruling class started cheating in the name of handing over power. On March 7, 1997, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared at the Dhaka Historic Racecourse Field that ...
এবারের সংগ্রাম স্বাধীনতার সংগ্রাম এবারের সংগ্রাম মুক্তির সংগ্রাম (this time the struggle is for freedom, this time the struggle is for liberation.)
From this speech, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman urged Bangali to jump in the struggle and make preparation for preparing. Then the whole movement started in Bengal. The Pakistani ruling party continued to delay in the name of negotiations. And Yahya Khan continued to increase power from West Pakistan to the power and arms.
And on 25th March, the Pak army carried out brutal massacre on innocent unarmed Bengalis. Then the Pakistani military carrying arbitrary massacre on various hostels of Dhaka University, EPR and police line. Then the Bengalis were forced to get involved in the war.
Bangladesh was one of the reasons for independence. The people of Bangladesh were deprived of the Pakistani ruling class in all sectors. Bengalis were deprived in all fields including education, medicine, jobs, politics and economy.
Today is Victory Day, a public holiday. This day is observed with due dignity every year. This day is observed with due dignity in all fields including schools-colleges-universities, government institutions, private institutions. Flowers were laid at the Shaheed Minar in homage to the martyrs. On this day, patriotic songs and Bangabandhu's speech were played all day long.
However today we are citizens of an independent country. But a lot of blood has flowed to bring this freedom. We lost 3 million people. Our former mothers and sisters have lost their dignity. I got this freedom at the cost of my life. I convey to them my deepest respect and love. May the Creator keep them well in the Hereafter and keep them in peace.
