FORGIVE OR FORFEIT
Permit me to tell you a short story I once heard a man tell his children who fought and were no longer talking. It’s about a man and his wife. You would not regret reading it.
This man had issues with his wife. Although they were living under one roof, they nearest spoke.
Everyone minded their business and went about the house without saying a word to the other person. In order to communicate, the man bought a book and kept on the center table. If one had something to say to the other, he/she simply wrote it down in the book. The other partner would read it and do the needful.
John returned from a trip one afternoon. He had a business trip he couldn’t afford to miss by evening. His flight was in four (4) hours’ time. In order to be fit and hearty for the journey, he needed to rest his head for sometime.
He needed someone to wake him up before his trip so he’d go to the airport.
He simply went to the table and wrote in the book “my darling wife, my flight is by 7pm. I can’t afford to miss it. Please wake me up by 5pm so I’d prepare and travel.”
He went to sleep.
Fast forward to 3 hours later, the wife read the sweet message and simply replied in the same book.
“My darling husband, your flight is in an hour’s time. Please wake up and prepare.”
Long story short, the man woke up around 10pm. He missed his flight and almost lost his job.
We must learn to forgive and reconcile our differences. Else, we would lose a lot.
