The leaders of his nation, who refused to respond to his call, spoke for themselves. If you respond to Shuaib's call, you will surely be harmed. It is known from the first verse that there were two great wrongdoings among the people of Hazrat Shuaib (peace be upon him).

One is shirk, and the other is corruption in business. It would not be right to underestimate the response of the leaders of the nation of Shu'aib to his call. Rather, their statements are thought-provoking. This is exactly what the leaders of the Midianites were saying, and they were telling the people that we would be destroyed if we adhered to the strict principles of honesty and integrity that Shuaib was calling for and to adhere to.

How can our business trade if we follow the principles of truth and honesty and make honest and genuine transactions? Moreover, as we live at the crossroads of two of the world's largest highways and live on the borders of vast civilized, well-organized and developed empires like Egypt and Iraq, if we stop harassing trade caravans and become peace-loving good people.

However, given the current geographical location, all the economic and political benefits that we enjoy will be lost, and the prestige we have established over the surrounding nations will no longer exist. Such thoughts and behaviors are not limited to the nation of Shuaib (peace be upon him), but people with perverted minds and characters of all ages have found the principle of truth, honesty and justice to be so dangerous.

The catastrophic religious activities of every age cannot go on without lies, dishonesty and economics. One of the great accusations that has been raised everywhere against the call of truth is that if this call is followed following the conventional ways and means of the world, then the nation will be destroyed.
