Chelsea got frustrated at the Bridge when Everton visited and despite having a lot of shots and an incredible amount of possession percentage, Chelsea still couldn't get the better of Everton as they slipped 4 points adrift of the leaders; Manchester City who bombarded Leeds with 7 goals without reply and with Liverpool winning also against Newcastle, then Chelsea need to stop losing points in games like this one.
With the pressure on Rafa Benitez, you can forgive him for going to Stamford Bridge with the hope of not losing at least and this 1 point would look like a miracle to them as evident by how relieved they were not to lose against Chelsea. Rafa held his own against his former side and added to the frustration of Chelsea who has now conceded 9 goals in 4 games.
Mason Mount thought his goal would be the difference for the two sides before Branthwaite equalized for the visitors to bring the game to a 1-1 scoreline. Chelsea would feel particularly aggrieved not to have won the game despite a spirited performance.
Reece James would have himself to blame after an inch-perfect pass from Jorginho sets him free inside the box and rather than go for a better placement, he rather flashed his effort wide with the goal at his mercy. He tried to atone for that miss with a lovely pass for Mason Mount in almost the same position and Mason Mount's low drive effort couldn't find the back of the net as it missed just by an inch.
Ziyech managed to displace his markers with a lovely swift turn as he barged into Everton's box. He managed to pick out Pulisic inside the box as Chelsea's search for the opener continued but Pulisic's back flick effort was easily gathered by Pickford.
The search continued for Chelsea after Mason Mount fed Rudiger who managed to hold off his marker just on the line and he fed Mason Mount with a return pass inside the box and still, Pickford got a touch on the ball to deny Mason Mount at point-blank.
Doucoure would have himself to blame for Chelsea taking the lead in the 70th minute after he failed to release the pass as he managed to get to Chelsea's edge of the box. Chelsea launched a counter from it and Reece James laid the final pass to Mason Mount who had to beat Pickford at his near post with a wonderful strike which was a goal Chelsea deserved, to be honest.
Chelsea's lead only lasted 4 minutes after Everton won a freekick at the left-hand side of the pitch. Gordon delivered a lovely ball into the box which eluded everyone but not Branthwaite as he guided the ball into the back of the net with his feet. Everton held on and made sure to get away with a point after an underwhelming performance of late.
