Lacazette led the line in place of the suspended Aubameyang. Mikel Arteta made it known that it was due to disciplinary action and that was why Aubameyang was left out of the squad completely. Lacazette justified his inclusion as he found the back of the net with Arsenal racing to a 3-0 win against the Saints.
Arsenal hosted Southampton and we're hoping to get back to winning ways after not so impressive results for a couple of weeks now but Lacazette, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel put the Saints to the sword with a deserved 3-0 win.
Armstrong had a decent chance just at the edge of the box but he was unable to beat Ramsdale at his near post as he got a strong arm to deny the effort before gathering the ball but Arsenal won't make that mistake to allow such a chance to pass by as a brilliant counter-attack ensued for Arsenal in the 21st minute after clever one-touch passes which led to Saka racing through on goal. His clever low drive pass into the box was met with precision and accuracy by Lacazette as he fired the ball into the back of the net with class and speed to give Arsenal a deserved 1-0.
Tomiyasu stepped up 6 minutes after to deliver a cross into the path of Keiran Tierney whose initial effort to cross into the box was fumbled but he managed to gather the ball and his headed pass into the box was met with alertness by Martin Odegaard who powered home a brilliant header into the back of the net to give Arsenal a healthy 2-0 lead in the 27th minute.
Gabriel thought he had scored the 3rd goal for Arsenal after he managed to bundle the ball into the back of the net but the linesman had other ideas as he flagged him for offside but the linesman couldn't prevent his goal in the 62nd minute (2 minutes after he had his initial goal disallowed for offside) after he powered home a header goal from a brilliant corner kick delivery to all but seal Arsenal's 3-0 win in a dominant display that would leave the fans satisfied and excited for things to come with the hope of continuing another brilliant run as they climb up the table.
Arsenal didn't stop there as they showed more intention of increasing their tally on the night. Martinelli's shot just outside the box struck the post after he clearly beat the goalkeeper but he was unable to beat the post. Odegaard gathered the rebound and his shot was deflected for a corner kick by Walker-Peters. Saka added himself to the list of those who struck the post after his brilliant effort despite how difficult it must be between several legs, struck the post and went out to safety.
Southampton had a chance of their own with Redmond striking a shot that was saved by the brilliance of Ramsdale for a corner kick. The Saints couldn't dent the clean sheet of Ramsdale as Arsenal would have hoped to score more than they did but would have to settle for an important 3 points in a dominant display from Mikel Arteta's men.
