Most people use centralized crypto exchanges to buy cryptocurrency with fiat currency. It is easy to transfer fiat currency and buy any cryptocurrency with that. Now Uniswap introduces new payment features that allow users to use debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers to buy cryptocurrency.
Uniswap made a partnership with financial technology company Moonpay to offer this service to users. It will help to onboard people into crypto. It is challenging to buy crypto with fiat currency using a decentralized finance protocol. Now things start to change.
When DeFi makes it easy to use fiat currency to get into crypto, people do not have to go to the centralized crypto exchange to do that. After the collapse of FTX, no one feels comfortable keeping crypto in exchanges, no matter how reliable it feels. People trusted the bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, but the exchange used customers' funds to do shady things and lost it all. Now people who trusted FTX are the ultimate loser.
So people love to use DeFi and the user base of decentralized finance will keep rising over time. Having payment features like buying crypto with fiat currency will make the adoption of cryptocurrency faster. You do not have to rely on centralized crypto exchanges anymore.
Now people can buy Ethereum (ETH), Dai (DAI), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC), and Wrapped Ether (wETH) on Uniswap using the new payment feature. It supports Ethereum mainnet, Polygon, Optimism, and Arbitrum.
When you are in crypto and hold your private key, you ensure the safety and security of your crypto. If you hand over your crypto to any third party, you are at risk. As soon as you make the transfer and give it to any centralized platform, you don't have control over your crypto. You end up having a password and email to make transactions then, but it is the platform that is in control.
