Why Newcastle’s penalty against Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic did not stand

On Sunday afternoon, Aleksandar Mitrovic had a disappointing homecoming to St. James’ Park as Fulham fell to their hosts Newcastle United 1-0.

After a run of five straight triumphs, Fulham’s top scorer will lament his team’s first loss since November. The most upsetting part of Sunday’s loss

will be his direct role in the opposite, when he missed a penalty kick opportunity to score the game’s first goal.
