Fuse

Wires heated up when electric current flows through them if the current is too large the wires can get hot enough to start a fire. A fuse is safety device connected in electrical circuits that interrupts flow of excessive electric current to prevent from damaged by overheating or fire. It is simply a thin metal wire designed to get hot and melt when too much current flows through it. When the fuse wire melts and breaks the circuit we say that the fuse has blown.
