๐ฎ๐ท๐จ๐ณ News Update | Iran buys 400 MANPADS from China to strengthen air defense
Iran has taken the initiative to quickly rebuild its air defense system after a long conflict with the United States and Israel. To this end, Tehran has signed a deal to buy about 300-400 shoulder-mounted air defense missiles (MANPADS) from China. According to Reuters, the first shipment could reach Iran in the next few weeks.
The deal, worth about 60-70 million US dollars, includes Chinese QW-12 and FN-16 short-range infrared-guided missiles. According to military experts, these missiles can play an effective role in countering low-flying fighter jets, helicopters and drones as they can be deployed quickly.
Tehran is believed to have taken this step after the weakness of Iran's air defense was revealed in recent attacks by the United States and Israel. However, China has called the Reuters report "baseless".ย At the same time, Pakistan has also completely denied reports of weapons being delivered using its territory or airspace.
According to analysts, if the deal is implemented, Iran's short-range air defense capabilities will significantly increase and could play a major role in protecting important military installations in future conflicts.
