Virat Kohli has already topped the Indian Premier League (IPL) in terms of boundaries.
Kohli became the first batsman in IPL history to hit 1,000 boundaries when he came out to bat on Thursday. The star, who has played in 18 editions of the IPL so far, has hit 721 fours and 279 sixes in 257 matches.
Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore face Delhi Capitals at home in their fifth match of the ongoing IPL today. Batting first, Kohli completed 1,000 boundaries in the IPL by scoring 22 runs off 14 balls with 2 sixes and 1 four.
Kohli needed only two boundaries before the start of the match to complete the milestone of the former Indian captain. Kohli achieved that perfection by blowing out Axar Patel's delivery in the fourth over. Besides, Shikhar Dhawan (920), David Warner (899) and Rohit Sharma (885) are respectively ranked in terms of total boundaries.
Dhawan has hit the most fours in the IPL so far (768). Kohli has a big chance to surpass that record with 721 fours. Dhawan has already said goodbye to professional cricket.
On the other hand, Chris Gayle, known as the Universe Boss, is already the king of sixes. He has also hit the most sixes in the IPL (357). Rohit Sharma (282) is after him in this regard. Kohli is also chasing this national team teammate with three sixes less.
