The trial is underway in the San Isidro Court in Buenos Aires. Seven doctors who treated Diego Maradona in his final days are accused in this case. They have been accused of negligence in Maradona's treatment. In his testimony at the hearing yesterday, a doctor said that it was wrong to take Maradona home after brain surgery.
Maradona died on November 25, 2020, a week or two after brain surgery. The 1986 World Cup legend spent his last days in a rented house in an elite area of Buenos Aires. The house was converted into a 'home hospital' and Maradona's treatment was arranged. Fernando Berlando, the lawyer for Maradona's two daughters, Dalma and Giannina, had earlier claimed in the hearing that the house was not suitable for a patient to live in, "The house was like a pigsty, it's rarely seen so dirty."
Maradona's doctor for two decades, Mario Alejandro Seiter, testified in court yesterday, "He should have gone to a rehabilitation clinic... that would have been a safer place for him." Earlier in the hearing, forensic doctor Mauricio Cascinelli, who participated in the autopsy on Maradona's body, told the court that he found the house where Maradona died "incompatible with a domestic hospital."
