A Guide on how to reuse content in markdown from your Blurt/Steem/Hive posts

As we all know editors on Blurt/Steem/Serey all use markdown with a mix of HTML code as well, and we all love that as we can reuse the same content across different chains. But Serey is different, it is modern, so do have the modern editor TinyMce as well. You all might not know, but TinyMCE was the main editor for WordPress for a long time before last year WordPress added a new Guttenberg Block editor, that has improved the user experience.

So, there must be something special about having the same editor with Serey, isn't it ?

So, let's see how to use the same content with less effort in the Serey editor.

1. Copy Content from the editor

After you copy content from the editor,  then go to the site and convert the text.

As you can see on the left-hand side, we do have the markdown + HTML code and on the left, we have only HTML (that is accepted by Serey Editor)

Now copy the code on the right-hand side and go back to Serey and click new Post

2. Pasting the HTML

Now we need to click the View > Source Code option in the toolbar of the editor of serey. Check the below screenshot for an example.

After pasting the content. Do click save and you will be back to TinyMce again but your content will be in a different form. The content will be rendered as it should be

Note: We do have markdown and one preview window in blurt/steem/hive but serey Editor is WYSIWYG editor, means what you see is what you get , so whatever you write is the final preview.  If you are not satisfied, you can go to View > Preview to see the content preview in a different popup window to confirm if we are having expected output.

3. Fixing the incompatible code

There is some code, that works directly with Blurt/Steem/Hive, not because the markdown editor is powerful, it's just because devs have written a lot of code detection to convert the output. But here we need to do it in a different way.

Let's say, we need to add an image. In other platforms, we can just image links and it will be rendered, but here you need to do one extra step.

Go to Insert > Image menu in the top bar. Enter the URL of the image in the source. It will auto-detect dimensions, but you can set height/width accordingly to display the image. Check the example below.

Or if you just want to upload a new image, then click on the upload option on right side of the same image window

A window like the above will be shown, where you can either select the image or drop an image to upload.

This way you can use the Insert menu for everything from an Image to an embed like Dtube, 3Speak, or youtube as well. You can also add a table using the same.

4. Forget the Tags

Basically, we have tags in all other platforms, 5-10 to categorize the content. But in serey we do have content categorized differently.

So, in place of tags, we do have community, then a category, and a subcategory. In some categories, there is no subcategory, so just a category is fine. 

Even if you want to write tags in the content, it does not matter. So, don't misuse tags here and buff up the content. Tags are irrelevant here and can be ignored.

5. Formatting

We all may have used some office editor once in life, like MS word, Wordpad, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, or any other version that provides formatting tools like Text color, font, size, and background along with another formatting. So, feel free to use those from the menu to make your content look better without adding any custom HTML code for colors or designs.

Because Serey believes you should focus on writing good content and not code.
