Apple and Samsung's supply chain is expected to face problems in the future as Vietnam struggles to combat a new wave of COVID-19. The operating capacity of factories in Vietnam is being shortened due to the spread of the virus, which mainly affects production facilities in the northern regions of the country. These factories in the northern provinces are responsible for supplying Apple and Samsung along with other big companies in the market. The unfortunate news comes shortly after the country successfully suppressed the first waves of the Coronavirus in 2020.
Currently, the new disease is spreading rapidly and has infected more than 3,000 people in 30 different cities in the northern region. This has also forced the local government to close restaurants and other public places in many cities. Several companies have been affected by this outbreak.
An insider of an Apple vendor said the company had split its workforce into two teams and described this as a temporary solution. He added that this was done to prevent further disruption in the supply chain.
On the other hand, Samsung also has notable operations in Vietnam as the country accounts for nearly half of the company's smartphones and tablets production.
