Deeper Life church founder Pastor Kumuyi opposes forcing women to cover their hair before entering church, saying most women have become unattractive because they have always covered their hair
The general superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, has warned his church staff who turn back a lady who wants to attend church but is not wearing a scarf.
In a trendy throwback video, the minister, citing 1Cor 11v5 of the Holy Bible, which deals with head covering for the female gender, explained that women should cover their heads when praying or prophesying.
“Someone is coming to our church for the first time. And she happens to be a lady who doesn't cover her head. We ask the person to cover their head before entering.
We don't know if the person doesn't even know God. We confront her out there before she even enters the church. We don't know if she's born again or not. We don't know if she doesn't know how to pray or prophesy, and we say stay there by the door. We stop them there and say you need to cover your head. Any woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head.
And there are people who won't even let these ladies get saved, because these ladies understand the Word of God and these ladies don't know how to pray, they don't prophesy. But we impose rules on her that she must have that "scarf" now.
If I were the person, I would ask myself, what kind of church is this? If they treat me like an elementary school girl, I will come to church for the last time.”
He also wondered why some sisters in the church covered their heads for almost 20 hours a day; that many have made themselves unattractive to their spouses.
“There are some women who are not attractive to their husbands. Some believe that since they are married, they no longer have an obligation to look good in front of their husbands. There are single sisters who are unpresentable. ”
