THE WAFFLE HOUSE MARKETING STRATEGY
Let me teach you something before the day gets too busy.
Waffle House Marketing Strategy is a marketing strategy named after a company “Waffle House”.
WHAT IS WAFFLE HOUSE?
Waffle House is an American restaurant chain with 1,900 locations in 25 states in the United States.
But what’s special about Waffle House? Waffle generates $1.3 billion annually yet IT SPENDS ZERO DOLLARS ON MARKETING.
WOW. HOW?
Waffle House positions itself near Wal Mart in every city. Wal Mart is one of the largest retail stores worldwide.
By positioning itself near Wal Mart, it is tapping into Wal Mart customers. It is offering additional value to those who come to patronize Wal Mart. By doing so, it generates $1.3 billion annually! Apparently, this is working.
HOW CAN YOU APPLY THIS?
You are a small business owner, you most likely don’t have any budget for advertising. Here is what you can do. You can tap into the network of already large businesses.
Say, you sell your cold Zobo Drink.
Go to SipKunu timeline. Wait for them to make a post then rush to the comment box and write. “Sip Kunu is truly amazing. It has rich nutrients. If you like Sip Kunu, you may like this Zobo too. It has low sugar, it was properly cooked and has no smells. Check it out here.”
Say you are selling books, go to Lengdung.
Wait for Lengdung Tungchamma to write a post about books. Then go to the comment box. “Thank you for sharing Lengdung. I read this book too. Truly amazing. I enjoyed it. I even wrote a review about it. Here is the review, in case you want it, you can get it here”.
Say you are into Career Coaching. Go to Sam Semako’s timeline. Wait for him to write on writing a CV. Then add your comment “Indeed, a good CV is a powerful message to the company you are applying. I remember applying for a work with a dumb CV, I was rejected. Since then, I have changed. I now make sure to write the best CV. You can check some of them here (link to your work).”
There is one important thing:
Don’t be a parasite. Be adding value to the conversation too. Be showing that you know this well too, don’t just rush and be commenting “Follow my page, like my page, etc,” that may work, but it will never reach the level of a value adding comment. People follow value.
In whatever field you are doing, there are people who have already built audience that you need. Just go and “Waffle them”. Gradually, people will notice you and begin to follow you too. That’s how you build your authority and leadership. It always works. Always.
Have a nice day. Find your Wal Mart, and tap into their network.
